In 2007 after my amazing experience all over the world interviewing the biggest celebrities on earth. I was inspired to start a program where I could engage and share my personal experiences with the youth of Africa.
I was always receiving emails and face book messages from young people who wanted me to mentor and guide them into the entertainment industry. I took it upon myself to pick one youngster every week to meet with and help become who they were born to be. On Fridays, I would invite the ones who wanted to be television hosts to join me on set at the Vuzu studio on V-entertainment, to see how live television was created.
They would join me from my makeup room to see the transformation of Nonhle at home to the glamorous star on television. I wanted them to know that it all starts with how you look and see how that impacts on your inner confidence, making you feel poised enough to take on the task of being on live television.
I would also show them the process of getting my scripts just before the live show and how to memorize, improvise and add your own flair to it.
I revealed the intensity of live television as it’s not as easy as it looks. Sometimes the youngsters would leave my program having second thoughts about getting into the entertainment business and other times they were highly motivated. Through this program I have been able to open up the eyes of the young hopefuls and show them the other side of the entertainment business. Sharing my own journey I showed them that its not all glitz and glam but if they felt this was their destiny then they would be able to stick through all the ups and downs.
