After I handed over my title as O Access host I was asked to be the Face of Vuzu, a brand new channel on DSTV. I was a bit nervous and unsure of what my future would hold, entering brand new territory is never easy.
Then Yolisa Phahle, the head of Vuzu, called me in for a meeting to ask me to do a reality show about my life. I was honored to be asked to do such but I was also uneasy as I'm a very private person. Doing a reality show was never part of my career plan.
I was already planning to go back to LA to try make a name for myself and push for my dreams but now Vuzu wanted an all access pass with the cameras documenting every moment and move I made.
This was a hard decision as this was not going to be just a show but my real life and everyone would see and judge.
It took me a year to finally say "ok" I'm ready, lets do this. It took a lot of courage from me to allow the world to see me in such a vulnerable state, but I knew I wanted to be a pioneer and I knew I wanted to push the boundaries on African television. So I was willing to be the first to a have show just about me and my life as an individual, so I agreed to try out this reality television market for Vuzu and that’s how Nonhle Goes To Hollywood was born.
